richard was born in cambridge in 1975 and was inspired by his late father, david, a talented artist. richard is entirely self-taught.
his architectural work is semi-abstract in nature, therefore subject matter is often secondary to composition. unconventional shooting angles and positions produce distorted perspectives. contrasting tones of light and shadow combine to create striking images, ranging from the satisfyingly simple to more complex and challenging forms. large black areas impart an intense mood to his work and deliberately discarded detail creates a sense that there may be something beyond that which can actually be seen.
richard is currently living and working in cambridge and is available for commissions and general hire. he doesn't do weddings!
